From Diffusion MRI Principles to High-Resolution Brain Imaging

Diffusion MRI is a key neuroimaging technique for the noninvasive investigation of white matter pathways and structural brain connectivity. This lecture introduces the basic principles of diffusion MRI, including water diffusion, tissue-dependent directionality, and diffusion weighting, and discusses how these concepts provide insight into brain microstructure and connectivity. The lecture will then outline the progression from DTI to advanced diffusion MRI approaches, including HARDI, with an emphasis on how high-resolution diffusion imaging can support more detailed studies of complex white matter organization.
 
The second part of the lecture highlights the research opportunities enabled by SNUBIC Cima.X. High-resolution T1-weighted imaging, T2-weighted imaging, resting-state fMRI, and diffusion MRI provide a more precise basis for studying brain structure, function, and connectivity. By linking fundamental diffusion MRI concepts with practical imaging capabilities, this lecture aims to present the potential of SNUBIC Cima.X for high-resolution multimodal brain imaging research.
